R-Squared
Productions Gives Away 1,500 T-Shirts MONROE, LA, November 2, 2011--Monroe
based R-Squared Productions is donating approximately 1,500 New Hope
t-shirts to middle school and high school teachers in the Ouachita Parish and
Monroe City School Systems. New Hope is R-Squared Productions' latest
feature length film, which addresses teen issues, including suicide. The
t-shirts will contain the movie title and be customized for each school with
their school name and colors. The back of the shirt will contain "A New Hope
is Rising", which is the name of an original song written for the movie and
being produced locally. The film is currently in
post-production. Rodney Ray, owner of R-Squared
Productions said, "We are committed to stopping suicide in this community.
Giving teachers New Hope t-shirts lets them know we are behind them.
Teachers, in turn, who spend so much time with our children, will have a
frequent reminder to continue to encourage students and know that we are on
their side. We also appreciate the incredible support we have received from the
community. We see this as an opportunity to say thank you and give
back."
Brent Vidrine, Principal of Neville
High School, said, "Our school is excited about New Hope and the impact
that R-Squared Productions is having on teen issues in our community. Neville
was happy to be a big part of making the movie and we are thankful for the gift
of the t-shirts and hope they will continue to inspire our teachers and
students."
The Ouachita Parish School System is
in the process of forming a community coalition to address these same issues.
"Dr. Webber and the Ouachita Parish Schools are committed to stopping the trend
of teen suicide in our community", said Flint Smith of the Suicide and Violence
Prevention Intervention Program of Ouachita Parish Schools. "We are working
hard to identify youth at risk for depression and suicide and providing ongoing
prevention training for our staff. We are so grateful for companies like
R-Squared Productions and others who are willing to step up and say, 'Why not
me?' and make such a difference. We are happy about the generous donation of
t-shirts for our teachers and partnering with R-Squared Productions in the
movie, New Hope."
Mayor Jamie Mayo added, "The City of
Monroe stands behind R-Squared Productions' efforts to bring a positive change
in our community. They make us "Monroe Proud" for aggressively attacking this
serious issue. We eagerly partner with R-Squared Productions and our local
schools to help heighten awareness and open discussions as we educate our
community about suicide. The Children's Coalition is a
non-profit children's advocacy group and a coordinator for Teen Screen, a
mental health screening that benefited over 1,500 students in our parish for
issues like depression and suicide. Jan Daniels of the Coalition said, "When
R-Squared started filming New Hope, we were the only region in Louisiana
without a Suicide Prevention Coordinator, which is part of the Louisiana
Partnership of Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative. Because of the attention
brought to the issue by R-Squared Productions and New Hope, we have now
secured funding for that position. We are thrilled to reach this goal and
accomplishment which will create a community where our children and their
families thrive." Brian Bendily of Keller Williams
Reality also said, "R-Squared Productions asked us to partner with them in
various ways by providing housing, transportation and food during the filming of
New Hope. We also love our community, and the rescuing of children in
this critical area demands understanding and involvement of community and state
leadership. We welcome others in our community to join us in being part of a
positive change for our children." "Our company motto is to make 'Life
Changing Films'. We believe that New Hope is doing just that," added
Ray. The worldwide premiere of R-Squared
Productions' newest feature film, New Hope, starring Samuel Davis
(Abel's Field), Perry Frost and Ben Davies (Courageous) is quickly
approaching. The film also includes appearances by Andrew Whitworth of the
Cincinnati Bengals and hundreds of local extras and special extras. New
Hope was filmed entirely in Ouachita Parish and highlights basketball and
cheerleading talent from many local high schools. The Premiere will be held
Friday, February 10th, at First West, 500 Pine Street, in West Monroe at
7:00p.m. Students, parents and others who
want a t-shirt can find them on the R-Squared's website. For more information,
