Fire officials say arsons happen in spurts. And we just happen to be in a spurt. In the past month alone, fire officials say arsons have hit Solomons Alley, North 19th, Jackson, Olive and Plum street. Melvin Jackson is one the latest victims of arson...in what fire officials are calling a rash of intentionally set fires in Monroe. As Jackson picks up the pieces from Saturdays fire...he says he feels an overwhelming sense of loss. Fire investigators say an arson like Jacksons can take days, weeks or months to figure out. Because it takes time to run down leads. And oftentimes, they have to track down families. Or talk to neighbors, who dont want to cooperate.
