Memorial Day Weekend: Time to splash into fun, family and gas price woes? "Its sad were here at vacation time for everybody wanting to take their vacations and all and nobody can do it," John Justice, one Ark-La-Miss boater said. Eddie Costin, another boater said, "Theres stuff I dont get to do any more, like I did do, like I dont fish as much." With gas prices around four dollars per gallon, boaters had to make some budget cuts. "We just have to get a bunch of us together and split up the cost," Justice said. Sam Rymer, another boater said, "We just go a short distance and we beach up at Moon Lake and we have our fun right there and come straight back so it really isnt that expensive." Others say they just want to fun, despite the cost. "I dont care if it goes to 10 dollars a gallon, Im still going to go out [on the water]," Hunter Sullivan, an Ark-La-Miss boater said. At Joe Bobs boat ramp in West Monroe people were waiting in lines to launch their boats because they say family time is more important than the price of gas. "Its a lot more important to do whatever you can to take time with your family because thats the most important thing there is," Rymer said. Others say they agree. "Its just a special time for the family, everybodys off work," Costin said. Rymer continued, "Do whatever you can to go out and have a little bit of fun and enjoy life a little bit."
