Monroe Man Accused Of Years Of Violent Rape

Its a crime thats hard for most to imagine - police arresting a man they say violently raped his young niece for more than 3 years. The nightmare allegedly began when the girl was just 9 years old. Police say 57 year old Freddie Long of Monroe repeatedly raped his niece on a weekly basis for years. Long is charged with aggravated rape. His bond set at half a million dollars. That brutal rape case unfortunately just one in a long line of recent rape cases in our area. And its a traumatic experience that has lasting, devastating effects on its victims. Authorities say theyve met grown women who still tear up and cry about what happened to them 10 or 15 years ago. And that sometimes the general public just doesnt understand that a sexual crime haunts someone for the rest of their lives.
