Local boy scouts prepare to Scout for Food Saturday.
It's the 25th year the Louisiana Purchase Council Boy Scouts have gathered food to support the Northeast and Central Louisiana Food Banks. The paper bags were dropped off at homes last Saturday. Organizers say there is a desperate need for food this year as holiday's approach.
"We're really looking for canned items this year, not so much the non-perishables like pasta, but canned items is really what they need and they have stressed with us this year at both locations, protein, protein, protein," says Scout Executive David Sorrell.
This year the boy scouts hope to gather more than 50-thousand pounds of food. To help, just fill your bag and put it in plain site on your front porch before 9 a.m. on Saturday.
