El Dorado's Police Chief Ricky Roberts announced that he will be retiring effective March 1st of next year after 13 years of leading the police force. It will be up to the Civil Service Commission to find his replacement.

Roberts last official day will be February 28th.

The council also voted on spending 9 million dollars to improve economic development in the city by using the money to go towards making El Dorado a festival and events city. The process will create 260 jobs for the city.

Another announcement was made during the meeting letting folks know that live in the Murmil Heights neighborhood that their request for another access route in and out of the neighborhood had been denied by the highway department because of safety reasons.

The mayor says he will continue to work on figuring out other alternatives for another access route for the neighborhood.

El Dorado's next council meeting will be on November 20th.
