Over 14 thousand have visited the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall.  A closing ceremony was held Wednesday to end the second visit of the wall to Monroe.

Prayer and songs rang out as members of the National Guard presented colors. An emotional story was told by a soldier. He described about how he escorted a fallen marine home after battle. The ceremony ended with a moment of silence and the playing of taps. Many veterans say the walls visit to Monroe and Wednesday's ceremony not only allowed them a chance to pay respect but also allowed many to have closure.

There is still time to visit the wall.  Vietnam veterans will disassemble the all  beginning at 8am Thursday.

Nothing has been decided on when and if the wall will return to Monroe.  The wall is booked through 2014.  Its next stop is Jackson, MS.
