Local Group Personally Delivers Turkeys To Children's Home

MONROE -- On Thursday, folks in Monroe rounded up some turkeys to help children have a special Thanksgiving.
Every year for the past 15 years, members of the National Wild Turkey Federation local chapter give whole turkeys to the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe.
The turkey's will be delivered to each cottage in the foster care community.
"Just giving back to the community. We've all had good lives, we enjoy hunting, we got an organization, so we give back to the community any way we can," said Joe Platt, president of the local Turkey Federation chapter.
The children's home currently has 64 residents, and has helped children and families in the area for over 100 years.
"It's the direct involvement of people in the community that do what people in Louisiana call 'lagniappe,'" said Cottage Life director, Tommy Frost. "That little extra."
