Yield and prices Records have been broken for Louisiana soybean farmers.

Farmers are cashing in as they are yielding 44 bushels per acre. This year's crop has surpassed the record setting 2007 year, where farmers harvested 43 bushels per acre. Total soybean acreage for the state is just over 1.1 million.

Not only were yields up, prices were also. Throughout growing market prices were as high as 17 dollars a bushel.

With such a bumper year for soybeans, experts say they expect growers to increase acreage for the 2013 year.
