Monroe Housing Authority operates under the fundamental belief that providing educational and self-sufficiency opportunities to moms and dads empower families. With this in mind, Monroe Housing Authority and Delta Community College has once again joined forces to make education more accessible and customized to meet the challenges facing today's families.
November 16, 2012's Ribbon Cutting Ceremony will mark the second successful collaboration between the Monroe Housing Authority and Delta Community College. The newly constructed learning center attempts to alleviate some of the obstacles that many face as they strive to complete their educational goals and seek employment.
The $530,000.00 facility is centrally located within Monroe Housing Authority's largest family housing site allowing for easy access. An onsite day care facility is available for attending students with children under the age of eight. Educational programs such as GED preparation classes, Adult Literacy Programs and Job Preparedness Components allow students to work with Delta Community College Instructors to prepare a road map to self sufficiency.
TBA Studio and Ragan Builders are to be commended for their contributions. The building design creates an environment that is conducive to learning, while the interior lightning and color selection appeals to students of all ages.
As a part of Monroe Housing Authority and Delta Community College ongoing commitment to empowering families, another learning center is currently under construction and will open its doors next year.
