Church Burglary Suspect Arrested

West Monroe police have arrested a man they say broke into an area church and stole checks.

According to the arrest report Stanley Blackman used one of the stolen checks from St. Paschals church to pay for items from a West Monroe store.

He went back to the same store the next day and tried to buy more items with another check.
 
The store contacted police who found the box of stolen checks and other items that had been stolen in Blackman's car. 

Blackman told police he found the checks and admitted that he used the checks to buy cigarettes and alcohol.

Blackman is charged with possession of stolen property, theft by fraud and attempted theft by fraud.
