Dr. Jerry Ryan recently signed an agreement with District Attorney, Bob Levy and District Attorney Jerry Jones.
This understanding will allow first time, non-violent offenders to possibly eliminate their criminal record and prison time if they participate in a new diversion program.
Totally at the discretion of the District Attorney, offenders without a high school diploma will be sent to Delta's GED/Workready program.
The Workready program allows the participants to pursue their GED while learning a marketable skill. Expungement of their criminal record is only an option upon completion of the program.
"We believe that this program will reduce recidivism and provide a pool of trained candidates for the region's work force," Ryan said.
