Police juror Pat Moore introduced the ordinance during the November 19th meeting. It would require all residential and commercial property owners to have contracted trash pick-up.
Monday evening the ordinance was scheduled for a final reading and vote. But after a public hearing in which the majority of residents were opposed to the ordinance, police juror Pat Moore asked to table the issue until March 2013.
Also at the police jury meeting, jurors, the Living Well Foundation, and Hospital Service District No. 1 presented the Ouachita Parish School Board with a check for more than a half-million dollars.
The school board says they will use the money to build a new vocational building at Richwood High School providing students with training in various fields including nursing, medical technology, and dentistry.
