HARMONY GROVE, AR (KARK) -- A murder investigation is under way in Ouachita County where authorities say a woman is dead after someone set her house on fire.

It happened in the community of Harmony Grove Friday (12/15) night.

Arkansas State Police and Ouachita County Sheriff's Detectives are investigating.

The community is worried because no one has been arrested and there's no suspect.

It has the family calling for justice as they can't understand why anyone would do something like this.

The Thrower family is now trying to make sense of what they say is a senseless murder.

"It's just bad man, someone gonna do my mom like that," said the victim's son, Corey Thrower.

He and his three brothers have lost their mom, 47-year-old, Brenda Thrower.

The Ouachita County Sheriff's Office confirms the fire was set on purpose.

Shannon and Lynette McCain tried everything they could not knowing if their neighbor was inside.

"A lot of emotions going on," Lynette said. "We had seen smoke rolling out of the top of the house. He kicked in the door and I had broken the windows out."

The heat and smoke however were too much for them to handle.

According to the Sheriff Brenda Thrower had called for help saying there was someone in her home.

Shannon said, "It's scary knowing that there's people out there that can do something like this to someone that never bothered anybody."

By the time authorities arrived and fire crews put out the flames, Brenda Thrower was gone.

Those that knew her say she'll be missed by friends and neighbors but more importantly by her four sons.

"I don't know man," Corey Thrower seemed to be at a loss for words and near tears. "...It's messed up."
