Lawyers for a Monroe doctor involved in the illegal import of human growth hormone is getting more time to file an objection to a ruling that prevent the withdrawal of a guilty plea.
Dr. Linda Bunch tried in December to have her guilty plea withdrawn; claiming new evidence discovered by her new attorneys proved she had no part in the import scheme.
After the December 14 hearing when Judge Elizabeth Foote rejected the motion, she ordered any objections to her ruling be filed by January 2. Lawyers for Dr. Bunch said that wasn't enough time to file an objection and asked for more time
The judge is now giving defense attorneys until January 12 to file the objection.
Meanwhile sentencing for the case is set for January 24 at 130p in Shreveport.
The co-defendant in the case, Dr. Dallas Humble, pleaded guilty and is still awaiting sentencing.
