A Bossier Parish man has been arrested by Union Parish sheriff's deputies accused of firing shots from his deer stand over the heads of five duck hunters.
Booked into the Union Parish Correctional Center was William W. Michael, 30, of 8622 Woodlake Rd., Haughton, La. He was booked for aggravated assault with a firearm. He has been released on a $3,000 bond.
Deputies received the complaint from the duck hunters on Dec. 23. The five hunters told deputies they were hunting on the Bethel Hunting Club near Lillie. They said when they stepped out onto a pipeline they heard two gunshots and a whistling sound from the bullets passing over their heads.
The hunters told deputies they saw a man get down out of a deer stand and walked to their location. A creek separated them from the shooter. According to an affidavit, the man cursed the men and told them if they ever walked out on the pipeline again that he would shoot them and "leave them lying there."
A warrant was issued for Michael's arrested and he turned himself in to sheriff's deputies Dec. 26.
