A new arena could be on the horizon for the City of Monroe.

Mayor Jamie Mayo made the announcement New Year's Day detailing the building phases of a 10,000 seat capacity arena.
However, the city must first undergo a feasibility study to determine the cost and location of the arena.
M3A architect firm of Jackson, Mississippi will conduct the study.

Mayor Mayo also says his ideal location for the arena would be somewhere downtown and believes the project will help the city move forward in the 21st century.

The official starting date, location, and cost of the arena will not be released until the feasibility study has been completed.
