The preliminary investigation revealed that a 1982 Toyota Tercel, driven by 39-year-old Sheldon Lindsay of Bastrop, was traveling south on Louisiana Highway 139 when it traveled off the roadway and struck a tree.
Lindsay was unrestrained and suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. Lindsay was transported to a hospital in Morehouse Parish where he died.
A toxicology sample was obtained from the driver and will be submitted for analysis. The crash remains under investigation.
