The steady rains that fell in Monroe did not end in any major flooding in the city.
City leaders say all the pump stations in Monroe were operating normally and were able to keep up with the steady rains.
Crews were also out late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning working to keep ditches clear to prevent the water from rising even higher.
City leaders say residents also played a role in keeping their yards free from debris.
"We appreciate the people that assisted us in keeping drains free of debris and so as a result, we're totally saturated the ditches are full, but to my knowledge there's been no home flooding. The calls from the public have been very minimal considering the amount of rain we had overnight" said Tom Janway, Monroe Public Works Director.
Janway says the city does have sandbags available at the public works building on Grammont Street for city residents if they want them.
