WEST MONROE -- On Friday, the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office and the United States Army Corps of Engineers joined with the Wounded Warriors Project to welcome eight patriots to the area.

The project serves veterans injured while on active military duty during or after the September 11th attacks.

During ceremonies, six men and two women were acknowledged for their commitment and service to our country.

Since its founding in 2002, the Wounded Warriors' Project has served as a stimulus for operations Iraqi freedom, Enduring Freedom, and New Dawn.
