MONROE - Kevin Blackwell and Fire It Productions wrapped up their annual team roping competition in the Ike Hamilton Expo Center on Sunday.

The event started Saturday morning with registration and the cactus saddle warm-ups. 749 teams competed in the first round of roping.

After the first, second, and third 3-head roping levels, 30 teams advanced to the next round before a brief intermission.

Following the intermission; the junior cowboys and cowgirls saddled up and took the floor for the dummy roping competition.

On Sunday the competition started with the high money round where competitors faced off for the grand prize of 10,000 dollars.

This year's competition has awarded more than 25,000 dollars to participants and sponsors say they look forward to continuing their expansion of the competition.

The team roping competition will be back in the Ike Hamilton Expo this July and will sponsor a dodge truck give away.
