Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade in Ouachita Parish

MONROE -- Though Mardi Gras in New Orleans gets worldwide attention, northeast Louisiana has become a major hub when it comes to celebrating Carnival.
Mobile home and RVs filled with tailgaters lined Louisville Avenue in preparation for this years' Krewe of Janus' parade.
Marching bands, decorated floats, and colorful beads were the attraction that brought many local folks out to the parade on Saturday.
This year marks the 30th year of the Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade.
The Krewe of Janus also honored Don Thompson, who recently died in a small plane crash in Richwood.
