Updated 1 p.m.

Police have identified the victim as 29-year old Clinton Pratt of Monroe. Family has been notified.

Investigators say that Pratt died from a suspected gunshot wound.

It is unknown at this time if the homicide occurred at this location or if the victim was moved to this area.

The call came in to police around 8 a.m. Monday morning. The body was found near a ditch off Highway 80, near the old horse arena and shooting range used by Monroe Police.

"But only at certain times, it's not a frequently traveled road," said Mark Johnson with the Monroe Police Department.

Johnson said the area where the body was found is part of the security zone that runs up directly to the Monroe Regional Airport.

"To find something like that is out of the ordinary," he said.

Investigators say this case is just one of many recent high profile cases, but doesn't necessarily mean there is an increase in crime in the area just yet.

"It's yet to be determined if we've had an increase in crime, just had some high profile cases," Johnson said.
