MONROE -- Law enforcement is looking for a man who broke into a local high school and stole money that was raised to go toward surgery for a baby with Down Syndrome -- and they need your help in catching that man.
Monroe police say between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. on January 29, a man broke into West Ouachita High School through a window and started rummaging through the main offices.
Once he made it to the guidance counselor's office, he found an envelope containing money students had raised for a fundraiser. That money was raised to help an employee's baby with Down Syndrome who needed heart surgery.
Once the thief took the money and continued rummaging through the rest of the school, he set off an alarm and bailed. Police were unable to catch him that night.
Police describe him as a white male who is 5 feet, 10 inches in height, and approximately 130 to 150 pounds with long dark hair.
Monroe Police say they've received several tips so far on the incident. The investigation is currently in the hands of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office.
