KTVE has learned that Brad Laird will be named the new head football coach at Ruston High School. Laird, who played quarterback for the Bearcats from 1989-91, directed the school to a state championship, and was 30 & 1 during his time under then-coach Chick Childress.
After an outstanding quarterback career at Northwestern St., Laird has since coached on the high school and college level.
The formal announcement is expected Wednesday morning at the school. He takes over for his dad Billy, who will stay on as the schools athletic director.
