With a party line vote, an Arkansas Senate Committee approved a bill
that would require residents to show their ID before voting.
Republican Sen. Bryan King of Green Forest proposed the bill.
The proposal would allow voters to cast a provisional ballot if they don't have an ID.
State law already requires poll workers to ask voters for identification. Voters can still cast a ballot without showing ID.
The Senate is expected to vote on the bill next week.
