WHY YOU SHOULD ATTEND: There is one topic that many business owners have a lot of questions about and that is how their organization might qualify to file a BP Claim related to the Deepwater Horizon incident of April 20, 2010. This meeting will help businesses understand what this is all about. According to the BP settlement, everyone in Louisiana is eligible but not everyone will qualify. The settlement calls for at least a minimum payout of $23 BILLION but it is an uncapped settlement, meaning it could go significantly higher. The approved settlement is based on certain accounting formulas, not just on economic gain or loss. Many organizations feel that they may not qualify, but people won't know unless they understand the process and run the numbers. Some organizations feel it might not be appropriate to file a claim because they were not affected or their businesses increased or they are a fairly new company. However, these same organizations ran the numbers and most DID qualify; and as a result some are even donating the claim money to their favorite church or charity.
