West Monroe Man Arrested For Bar Fight, Kicking Officer

MONROE -- A West Monroe man is in jail for battery on a police officer and another charge after a fight at a bar in Monroe.

According to the police report, 25-year old Stephen Riley of West Monroe was arrested early Saturday morning at the Hookin' Bull in Monroe.

Monroe police were called to the bar around 1 a.m. for a fight. When officers arrived, police were told  Riley was causing a disturbance and trying to start a fight in the bar.

Bar workers took Riley outside, but then the report says Riley tried to fight them. Officers on the scene tried to arrest Riley, but he fought them as well.

The police report says once Riley was put in the back of the police car, he kicked an officer in the chest and tried to kick another officer in the face. The report says he also tried to kick out the window.

Riley was arrested and taken to OCC for two counts of battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace by intoxication, disturbing the peace by fighting and resisting arrest by violence.
