UNION PARISH -- A Union Parish man is being held without bond in the parish's detention center on a charge of cultivation of marijuana.
Larry C. Murray, 33, of Spearsville, was arrested Friday be detectives investigating a recent burglary. Murray told the deputies he had nothing to do with the burglary and he had only been seen at the residence because he wanted to rent it.
The suspect gave written consent for a search of his truck, his residence and a white shed next to the house. Deputies reported smelling burned marijuana inside the residence. Murray told deputies his cousin's girlfriend, who had just left, had been smoking marijuana.
During a search of the white shed, detectives opened a cabinet door, which was emitting heat, and found four marijuana plants growing about 12 inches tall and an additional 15 seedlings.
Bond on the cultivation charge was set at $6,000, but Murray was being held without bond for state Probation and Parole officers because he violated his probation.
