UPDATE: Man Facing Charges in Monroe Hockey Stick Attack

UPDATE 2/26:
Monroe Police say as of Tuesday, both men are in the hospital in serious condition.
Police say Terry Harris, the man who attacked the victim with a hockey stick, is facing charges of second degree battery. He will be taken to jail once he's released from the hospital.
Terry is still recovering from a gunshot to the torso while the attack victim is recovering from serious head injuries.
Police also say the victim, whose name is not being released, will most likely not face charges because investigators determined he was acting in self-defense.
Investigators say they believe the two men know each other, and the attack stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two. Police say they haven't determined what the underlying reason of the dispute is.

UPDATE from MPD, 3 PM:
Around 10:18 a.m. Monday morning, the Monroe Police Department responded to a reported shooting that occurred in the 3200 Blk. of Louisville Ave.
Investigation revealed that a subject, later identified as 43-year old Terry Harris of was armed with a suspected stick and attacked another male that was fueling his vehicle at the fuel pumps.
A struggle ensued for several seconds during which the Harris continued to assault the alleged victim. During the course of this attack, a firearm was produced and the Harris was shot once to his torso.
It is unknown at this time which party produced the handgun or fired the weapon. Harris was found at the scene by Monroe Police and transported to a local hospital by AMR. His condition is listed as serious but stable.
The victim fled the scene in his vehicle and was located a short time later by Patrol units of Monroe Police. This subject was later transported to a local hospital and is being treated for the wounds he received in the attack.
His condition is listed as serious but stable. Witnesses at the scene are currently being interviewed by Monroe Police Detectives and the investigation is ongoing. Charges of 2nd degree battery are pending against Harris.
Names of the parties involved are being with held pending conclusion of interviews and the initial investigation. As of this time the business at this address, The Hurry Back Convenience store, has no connection to this incident other than the incident unfortunately took place on their property.

MONROE -- Police say around 10:18 am, a man is pumping gas at the Hurry Back food mart in Monroe, when another man walks up with a hockey stick and hits the man pumping gas in the head.
Police say the man continues to be the other man with a hockey stick at the gas pump.
Police say at some point a gun was produced and the man doing the attacking was shot in the torso. He was taken to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
The man who was attacked with the hockey stick, took off in his vehicle.
Three witnesses were able to help police locate the man. He has not been arrested, but he is in police custody for questioning.
No names have been released yet. Police are speculating that the two men may have known each other. Police say there is also the possibility of a female being involved in the incident.
Police are currently watching surveillance video inside the store.

Two people got into a fight at a Monroe gas station this morning that ended with one person being shot.
It happened at the Hurry Back Mart on Louisville Avenue around 10:19a.
Monroe Police say two men got into an altercation and they guy that was getting beat up, pulled out a gun and shot the other man.
Both were taking into custody by Monroe Police.
Their names and what charges they maybe facing is unknown. No word on the condition of the man that was shot.
