Monroe Police say as of Tuesday, both men are in the hospital in serious condition.
Police say Terry Harris, the man who attacked the victim with a hockey stick, is facing charges of second degree battery. He will be taken to jail once he's released from the hospital.
Terry is still recovering from a gunshot to the torso while the attack victim is recovering from serious head injuries.
Police also say the victim, whose name is not being released, will most likely not face charges because investigators determined he was acting in self-defense.
Investigators say they believe the two men know each other, and the attack stemmed from an ongoing dispute between the two. Police say they haven't determined what the underlying reason of the dispute is.
