MOREHOUSE PARISH -- A man is in jail and another man is in critical condition after a stabbing on Monday.
Morehouse Parish Sheriff Mike Tubbs says the stabbing happened late Monday afternoon.
Tubbs said police investigation at this point reveals 41-year old Thomas White and Charles Ashlock, 23, were arguing inside a vehicle when White stabbed Ashlock. The victim left the vehicle, trying to take himself to the hospital.
Tubbs said Ashlock was driving himself to an emergency room on Highway 165 south in Bastrop, bleeding from the stab wound. Police say Ashlock saw a parish deputy patrolling nearby, whom he flagged down.
Tubbs said he deputy transported Ashlock in the back of the patrol car to a local emergency room. Ashlock was then transported to Glenwood Regional Medical Center, where he is in stable but critical condition due to blood loss.
Police were able to obtain a suspect name from Ashlock. Deputies sent out a bulletin to local police Monday night in search of White.
White was taken into custody by MPSO deputies around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at a local motel. White has been charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.
Tubbs said that vehicle is impounded and is pending a police search.
The investigation continues.
