Louisiana Senator Mary Landrieu is accusing Governor Bobby Jindal of putting his political aspirations before the state with his refusal to expand Louisiana's medicaid program.

During a news conference this morning Sen. Landrieu said "He just seems to be adamant about pushing his political future ahead of the economic interests of the people of Louisiana. It's very disheartening to me and a growing number of people in our state." "It's his quest to be the next president and to check off the tea party 'I am the most conservative person in America' check list. If he were to get his mind and heart on the people he's representing, we might have better outcomes."

A report released today by Families USA and the Louisiana Consumer Healthcare Coalition says that expanding Louisiana's Medicaid program would give an additional 422,000 residents insurance.

Jindal has repeatedly said that Louisiana will not take part in the expanded medicaid program.

There is some question of the accuracy of the report. It list Ouachita Parish Mosquito Abatement as one of the five largest employers in the state with over 10,000 employees.
We reached out the the abatement department and was told they have about 20 employees on staff including the seasonal summer help.
We've reached out to Families USA to find out where they pulled those employment figures.
