UPDATE: West Monroe Police tells KTVE that Hydrick has been charged with one count of Hit and Run and one count of Careless Operation, this on top of the one count of Hit and Run charge against him from Monroe Police.

According to West Monroe PD, Hydrick has posted the $800 bond and has been released.

They also said alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.

Hydrick was insured at the time of the wrecks and he will now be required to appear before a judge.

PREVIOUS STORY: The driver of the 18-wheeler has been identified as 25-year-old Charles Hydrick from Mississippi.

Monroe Police said the driver has a long history of commercial motor vehicle violations and illegal equipment charges.

Hydrick will be charged with one count of hit-and-run before Monroe Police will turn him over to West Monroe Police, where Hydrick is facing several hit-and-run charges.

Hydrick will be held in West Monroe.

Police are also investigating Hydrick for being under the influence of a substance.

Fortunately, there were no injuries or deaths in these wrecks.

PREVIOUS STORY: Traffic was tied up on Interstate 20 East bound through Monroe and West Monroe just before rush hour Thursday evening.

Police say it's all because of one 18-wheeler around the 4 o'clock hour.

Monroe Police say an 18-wheeler smashed into several cars on I-20 East bound in West Monroe and continued doing so into Monroe.

In the end, 4 or 5 cars were hit.

Monroe Police were able to corral the big rig off the interstate at Hall Street -- so authorities say the roads are safe again.

Traffic was backed up through West Monroe for a short while but traffic is now flowing again.

The suspect will be facing charges in Monroe and West Monroe.
