Update: The LSU Board of Supervisors decided not to vote Monday on a memorandum of understanding that could eventually allow Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana to take over operations at EA Conway Medical Center.

Instead a special meeting will be held on March 27 at 10 a.m. to discuss the issue.

The memorandum asks to enter negotiations for the foundation to manage and operate E.A. Conway Medical Center and LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport.

Sunday:

The LSU Board of Supervisors will vote Monday to approve a memorandum of understanding that could eventually allow Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana to take over operations at EA Conway Medical Center.

Foundation board members voted Friday to pursue a deal with the state to take control of EA Conway.

Last week talks between EA Conway and St. Francis Medical Center, that would have led to St. Francis taking over EA Conway broke down.

Right now in Governor Jindal's proposed budget, EA Conway is on only funded for the first three months of the upcoming fiscal year.

The Governor's office is hoping for a private hospital system will take over operations at EA Conway similar to other formerly state run hospitals.

Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals said last week they were confident a deal would be finalized soon with a new partner.

The LSU Board of Supervisors meeting is set for 1p in Baton Rouge.
