The Monroe Police Department conducted the second panel of the review boards for the Animal Welfare officer position for the City of Monroe.
Nine applications were received for this second panel.
After background investigations and processing was completed, three applicants were interviewed at the panel.
Police say the applicants presented well and will be added to the first review panel pool for review by the Monroe Police Chief.
The panel was comprised of Monroe Police employees, animal welfare advocates, and members of the community. Police say it is hoped that a selection will be made by the end of the week.
MONROE -- Officials say the position of Animal Welfare Officer for the Monroe Police Department is still being considered.
Since the review board interviews of last week, officials say nine more people have submitted applications for the position.
A second review board is scheduled for Monday March 25.
Police say they hope that at the conclusion of the second review board, a pool from both boards will have qualified applicants available for the Chief of Police to be able to pick the best person to serve in this position.
