The rain didnt seem to let up today which made things a little difficult out there for some, but it wasnt enough to stop bargain hunters from taking full advantage of Black Friday. Shoppers were excited to get as many sales as they could, many were ready to shop before the sun came up. Despite the weather, the lines and small inconveniences, shoppers came out in droves and were ready to find the best bargains on one of the biggest shopping days of the year. Early morning shopper, Kristy Scharf said, "It was worth getting up early, looking for a parking spot, getting your umbrella out." A weak U.S. Economy didnt stop Ark-La-Miss bargain hunters from braving huge crowds and rainy weather on this Black Friday. We talked to the General Manager of the Pecanland Mall to see if retailers were feeling the slowing economy and he said, "All indications today through about noon say that were receiving comparable sales as we did last year." Despite grim economic forecasts, the sales for local retailers looked brisk at the regions largest shopping mecca. The biggest day of the holiday season seemingly a success for all, Ark-La-Miss retailers and most important, their customers. When retailers say theyre in the "red" that means theyve lost money and are down in sales, the idea is to stay in the"black" which is partially why its called "Black" Friday. The store managers we spoke with said there sales were right on target and they expect to be in the black, this holiday season.
