He is the Monroe City School Boards 200 Thousand Dollar Man. Superintendent, Dr. James Dupree awaiting agreement on performance objectives necessary for a legal contract for employment. After months of discussion the board met to discuss 12 objectives to be used in monitoring the districts growth. Dayton said it had taken a while to come up with suitable objectives because of the amount of research done by the board. Issues addressed in the slate of objectives: drop-out rate; act scores; and better communication from Dupree. "I think they address the academic needs of the system,” said Monroe City School Board President, Vicki Dayton. “I think they provide a foundation for the community to track our progress." This blueprint for the superintendent will also guide evaluation of his leadership of the 20 schools in the district. "It is not a plan to cause the superintendent to fail or anything like that,” continued Dayton. “We want success. We want him to achieve all of these objectives." Dupree heard some expectations for the first time during the meeting. "Some of them Im very comfortable with,” said Dupree. “Some of them, just about all of them, weve already taken action on. The ones that focus on academics, Im pretty comfortable with those. Its a lot, right? And, every time they go back to meet it gets bigger." Goals the 2 Hundred Thousand Dollar Man will have to meet in the best interest of Monroe school kids.
