Monroe City School Losing Students

By: Rudy Williams
Updated: December 3, 2008
One goal set for Monroe superintendent James Dupree by his employer is to keep students in the district. Where are they going? To subdivisions popping up outside Monroe city limits. That means kids who live here will go to different schools, leaving Monroe City Schools with fewer funds for operation. How do school board members expect the superintendent to hang on to students who move? "Dr. Dupree has great wisdom in getting with the Mayor and other government officials and partnering with them so we can annex some of this area into our city limits."
