Ouachita Parish Water Woes...

Greater Ouachita Water Company turns off the taps for a new subdivision. But customers who called the company were told greater Ouachita didnt even know about the outage. Water service disrupted for close to three hours. That has some residents and business owners fuming. NBC 10s Griffin Scott has the story. So Griff- youre not only covering this story, this actually happened in your neighborhood correct? My water was off from 11:15 this morning till almost 2 oclock this afternoon. I got conflicting stories when I called Greater Ouachita Water. So- why the confusion causing my home, almost 100 others and several neighborhood businesses to go without water? What do this baby... this butcher... and this West Monroe credit union all have in common? Wednesday- this water company shut off their water. no taps, no toilet, no shower no bath- at close to 100 homes and several businesses. Amy Kane who lives in the affected area, "We went to use the water here at the sink and there wasnt any". Amy Kane works from home. Where she takes care of her 2 year old son. She tells us, "It was very frustrating today, here we are we have a 2 year old, we have no water". Griffin Scott in Ouachita parish, "And in addition to homes and businesses Greater Ouachita cut the water off here at this Wallace road fire station". Customers calling Greater Ouachita water were first told the company was unaware of a problem. Two hours later the same folks told a private contractor intentionally cut the taps at a new subdivision. But when our news team contacted Greater Ouachita Water we got a different story. They cut the water off. In a statement the company says the complexity of the operation forced them to turn the water off. Amy Kane says, "At least let area residents know that were not going to have water". After several hours the butcher and the baby and Amy Kane got their water flowing again. And Amy has some advice for her water company, "Give us some money back for the you know, water we didnt have today". Greater Ouachita Water says the modifications they made while installing lines at the new subdivision should reduce the number of customers affected by future outages.
