Precious Pearls Become Debutantes

Chelsea Fobbs is one of 6 girls who has worked to become a debutante. This means she's ready to make her debut into society. Fobbs says it's something she was born to become.

 Fobbs said, "I was raised learning about etiquette and learning about becoming a young lady and it was always known that I was going to be presented when I became a senior."

 But it wasn't easy. Fobbs and the 5 other debutantes say they earned it.

Fobbs said, "How to be honorable, how to talk to people, how to be happy with doing different things, and etiquette of course."

Their director says it's a priceless experience and one the girls will cherish throughout their lives.

Edith Lowe-Douzart said, "It gives them the self-confidence, self-esteem, it teaches them poise and etiquette. It teaches them how to get along with each other and we also stress leadership skills."

Philicia Jackson says it's one of the greatest things she's experienced.

Jackson said, "The best thing of the year for us. we're being presented to society, just stating that we have grown up into young women."

The work has been done and the hours have been spent. These young girls are ready for their ball. They're ready to become young women.
