While many national banks are desperate for federal bailout money, a number of local institutions are actually parting with their money. Gary Funderburk is the Senior Vice President at Ouachita Federal Credit Union and he said, "Our loans are growing, we're willing to lend this is the time people need our help"
Clyde White is the CEO of Ouachita Independent Bank and he says dealing directly with home town customers makes all the difference.
White said, "It's a closer relationship that we can provide that some of the big banks just by design can't do."
Gary Funderburk at Ouachita Federal Credit Union agrees. The relationship the bank has with its customers helps build trust and profits.
