LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A 1-cent cut in the state's sales tax on food is due up before the Arkansas House this week, but a dramatic vote isn't expected.

Tuesday, an amendment was filed to the bill to add all 100 House members as cosponsors. The measure, which has already passed the Senate, has the backing of Gov. Mike Beebe and is expected to cost the state $40 million.

Last session, Beebe signed into law a bill cutting the tax from 6 cents to 3 cents. This session's bill, by Sen. Bobby Glover of Carlisle, would cut it to 2 cents and is to go before the House Revenue and Taxation Committee on Thursday.
