This Labor day weekend, West Monroe police say they plan on cracking down on drunk drivers, starting with the earliest check point police have ever done. The city has the most DWI arrests per capita in the entire state. West Monroe police will be camped out on Glenwood Drive and Downing Pines Road from about 6 pm to 11.

Police say they want to get the word out that they're out here and for people need to be responsible...for the sake of people like Melisa Guice. 39 years ago Guice and her family stopped on the side of a road to help out at an accident. Moments later, a 3-time drunk driver barreled into her family, throwing all of them about 30 feet.

Guice says the drunk driver didn't even stop then, he continued driving until he hit another woman head on -- permanently disfiguring her face. The accident was so traumatic, this is the first time in 39 years Guice's father has spoke about the accident.

Fortunately everyone in the Guice family survived that terrible accident. Guice says she's been trying to desperately find the couple who took her to the hospital 39 years ago. She would love to find the couple to thank them. all she knows is that they're from Shreveport.
