Perry Sook, President and CEO of Nexstar Broadcasting Group, was honored Thursday as national Broadcaster of the Year. Nexstar is the parent company of KTVE and KARD.
The award is given out each year by Broadcast and Cable Magazine. Sook received the award Thursday in New York City. The award recognizes Sook as one of the broadcast industry's great innovators and visionaries.
"First and foremost, local TV is a terrific business," said Sook. "It connects with every viewer and every consumer in every local community. It is still the point of contact for every business. We have to be relevant for years to come."
Sook oversees the Nexstar Group which includes 63 television stations and more than 2,500 employees. Sook also serves as director of the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters, the Television Bureau of Advertising and as a trustee for the Ohio University Foundation.
