Union Parish is busy cleaning up after flash flooding that had many communities under water yesterday.  Officials have described the flooding as catastrophic.  Almost four inches of rain fell in less than two hours causing water to spill into schools, businesses, and cover road ways.  The water receded as quickly as it came.  Once the water was gone officials discovered three of the 21 roads covered with rain were washed away.  Portions of John Edwards Road,

Raymond Odom Road
, and Games Reserve Road are closed because of these massive sink holes.  There is no word on when the roads will be fixed, and with more rain expected next week more roads could wash out as well.

D’Arbonne Wood Charter School in Farmerville dealt with flooding inside their school yesterday afternoon.  Faculty and parents worked until 9:30 last night to clean every thing up.  School went on as normal today and school officials do not expect any longer term damage.  Just down the road from the school is Anderson Sport Center.  James Anderson, the owner, had almost six inches of water fill up his store last night.  He and his staff worked hard to clean up the store and open for normal business today.

If you see a road that looks dangerous you are urged to call the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office at 368-3124.
