UL System President Comes To GSU

The sentiment on Grambling's campus is a need for change. President of the Faculty Senate, Dr. Matthew Ware says now that President Horace Judson has resigned, it's important an ambitious interim president is appointed. On his list? Someone who can address accreditation concerns for some colleges and budget cuts.
And while faculty have their concerns, so do students. Many say they're looking for someone to listen to their concerns and be productive in finding a solution. Some students say they've tried in the past to voice their concerns, but nothing ever happened.
Amber Croft is a student at GSU and she said, "We would try to speak our mind, but he wouldn't hear us, he would listen, but he wouldn't hear us."
And many other students agree.
Gary Frazier is also a student at GSU and he said, "Right now we need someone who's visible, someone who the students can reach out to for certain problems that they have."
This is part of the reason President Moffett and his staff came to town.
Dr. Randy Moffett said, "To do two things, listen and show them that the board and system are there to help and assist and to calm the waters a little bit, to show people that we're in this together and we're working to go in the right direction."
Moffett says he will meet with other GSU community members to understand their concerns. He says the feedback will play a part in the decision in naming an interim president.
Moffett said, "In terms of naming an interim, that's part of why we're here, but obviously interim are a little different from a permanent, there input will be important to us, but we will not be as deliberate and inclusive in the interviews because it's important to get settled as soon as possible."
