The water is steadily rising in yards in south ouachita parish.  People have been scrambling to line their homes with sand bags.   Willie Scott in Pine Bayou is working non-stop to save his home.

Scott said, "I've lived here 32 years and every time it rains it happens, not only when a hurricane comes just heavy rain."

Scott says he'll be out all day and all night keeping the drain clear of debris.

Scott said, "This is the only drain in Pine Bayou so all the water comes right here and drains out into the ditch."

Scott says if he doesn't clear the drain, all this water will back up into his house.  And just down the street in Tanglewood people like Phyillis Alexander are also afraid.

Alexander said, "That's probably going to come in if not before then.  Much like Scott Alexander says heavy rain always floods her house."

"We're in Alexander's back yard right now and the deepest spot is right at around a foot about 12 inches of water here, now she's lined her backyard with some sandbags, but she's afraid it's not going to be enough so she and her family are getting ready to evacuate."

Alexander said, "I got a son I'm probably going to go to his house, he stays in the trailer and it's a two bedroom, but it will do for us as far as staying dry."

Alexander has packed up enough clothes for about two days. She says she would rather get out now just in case all that water outside starts seeping into her house.
