St. Francis Medical Center and Blue Cross finally reach a deal.
The two have fought for months over whether they can offer special rates to Blue Cross patients.
Without an agreement, thousands of blue cross customers would lose the level of coverage they now have at St. Francis.
But could the partnership be saved with a last minute deal?

In just 10 days those patients would have been out of network.
We learned exclusively that Blue Cross had put a new offer on the table this week, an offer that was to expire at exactly 5 o’clock Thursday evening.

Blue Cross and St. Francis have been fighting over how much money services are worth.
But the loser in that battle would have very well been patients if nothing was done by the end of the month.
Blue Cross CEO Mike Reitz says everything came down to St. Francis being the highest paid hospital in the state and still asking for more money.
"They’ve not been unable to justify why they need so much more than the other hospitals in the state,” said Reitz.
"If you're raising your rates, but you're not going to pay the providers any more money, where's that money going to,” said Bremer.
At five o’clock Thursday, we had no answer to the deal on the table.
The deadline expired and St. Francis said it had legal issues to consider, things did not look good.
But then, shortly after six o'clock Blue Cross announced they had reached a deal with St.Francis.
Thursday night the Blue Cross told the world.
It’s big news that means thousands of blue cross customers will keep their network-level co-pays and prices at St. Francis.
"We concluded late this afternoon and it went a long way in both parties working hard in mutual concert to impact future health care cost,” said Reitz
Blue Cross's CEO Mike Reitz told NBC 10 in a news conference Thursday night the contract is still fresh but is good for at least 27 months.
St. Francis officials tell us they are excited about the agreement and they will have more details on it Friday.
