A former Ruston church employee is in police custody accused of felony theft and forgery.
Shelley Ann Grafton surrendered to Ruston Police Department on Monday at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
She was charged with 22 counts of felony theft and one count of forgery.
This was a result of an 8 month investigation, by the Ruston Police Department, into accounting improprieties at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston, where Grafton was employed as the financial secretary. She was employed there from January 2004 until April 2011.
While, the exact amount of the alleged misappropriations has not been released, it believed to be somewhere in the "hundreds of thousands" of dollars. The investigation is still ongoing.
