Richmond Drops Out of GOP Congressional Race; Backs Cotton

There's one less candidate in the 4th Congressional District race in Arkansas.
The Cotton for Congress campaign was endorsed by former candidate Marcus Richmond, who will work to make sure that Tom Cotton is the GOP nominee for Arkansas's Fourth Congressional District.

"Marcus Richmond is a proven military leader, a job creator, and -- above all -- a patriot," said Tom Cotton. "I have enjoyed getting to know Marcus and Susan during this campaign, and I'm grateful for their friendship. I am honored to have Marcus's endorsement and support in our effort to elect a strong conservative leader in the Fourth District."

Marcus Richmond issued this statement:

"As I've traveled the district, my campaign for Congress has been focused on experience and service. The fourth district deserves a Republican nominee who has the experience to run an effective campaign and the heart to serve every constituent. We deserve a Congressman who won't get caught up in the partisan politics and has the guts to say no to bad policy. We need a Congressman who has courage, honor and principle. That's why today, as I suspend my campaign, I'm endorsing Tom Cotton for Congress.

"As I've come to know the other candidates over the last several months it has become apparent Tom is ready to be a conservative leader in Washington. He is the clear choice in this race if we expect someone to help change the way DC works. I have appreciated all the support and friends I've made during this campaign, and I encourage everyone to join me in supporting Tom Cotton."

This is the third major endorsement the campaign has received in the past 8 days, adding to endorsements from the Club for Growth PAC and the Conservative Victory Fund. Tom Cotton also was elevated to "Contender" status in the National Republican Congressional Committee's "Young Guns" program two weeks ago
